Jrod and I LOVE our local hidden gems from gaming stores (Atlantis Games & Comics) to coffee shops (Badass Coffee) to restaurants.
One of our discoveries so far in the oh so long time we have been in Virginia Beach *almost a month* is Citrus Breakfast and Lunch. I am excited to say that this place will be on our top favorites due to a) we have been there 3 times so far b) Jrod ASKS to go there! He is NOT a breakfast fan besides lox & bagels so this just makes my day!
Citrus is a super cute local restaurant that has some of the normal menu items but more local only choices. The atmosphere is very beachy/relaxed back and I feel like I am back home in Florida on vacation. The staff is very friendly and outgoing with great advice on what all the menu items are about. We love the colors due to them mostly being orange

Jrod’s favorite that he has got every time is their signature Citrus Pancakes, the citrus glaze is amazing! My favorite menu item HAS to be the passion guava fruit drink! I just can’t stop, I could have that everyday and never get enough.

The breakfast items I have gotten so far include off the Healthy Choices menu; Wheat Sweet Potatoes French Toast, and from the regular menu The Lynnhaven. Both were great and I am looking forward to our next visit where I will be getting the Whole Wheat Carrot Pancakes.
My biggest hint is go on a weekday and mid morning, we stopped in on MLK day and we had a 45 min wait! It is worth it, don’t get me wrong, but we had to meet the realtor and couldn’t do it. The other times we just walk in and sit down.

One thing that I have noticed from the local joints we have gone to so far is that they ALL have a chalkboard of daily specials! That is one of our favorite bonuses of finding hidden local gems the chalkboard! In San Antonio they never let us down, and so far they haven’t in Virginia Beach either!
